COACHING
In order to qualify as an NLP(Neuro Linguistic Programming) Coach I completed 20 days advanced specialised training with International Teaching Seminars (ITS). This built on my training as a Certified Master Practitioner and Practitioner in the Art of Neuro Linguistic Programming. I am a member of the International Coaching Federation.
My training was undertaken with Ian McDermott and Jan Elfline, and their commitment to high quality teaching and learning stretched and challenged my practice to refine and develop the skills I use with individuals.
A major focus of the training involved giving and receiving feedback. This is something which requires practice and rigour to ensure that it is effective and useful. Many adults (myself included) can remember times when we received feedback from managers or colleagues and were left wondering what had actually happened! Feedback is crucial to help ourselves and others develop and grow.
My clients come from a wide range of backgrounds including: Education settings, Authors, Therapists, Senior Managers, Chief Executives and those newly retired
Coaching begins from the presupposition that the client has all the resources, including the ability to discover and utilise these resources. The job of the coach is to encourage the client to focus on their choices, to expand the models they use and to experiment with new approaches in their own time. One role of the coach is to hold the client to the goals they have designed, to make sure that they take the actions they have set for themselves and ensure that they are held to their highest standards.
I have particularly enjoyed working with individuals at times of change or transition eg moving roles, promotion, retirement, taking up training opportunities. Feedback has included:
v It was really good to be able to be coached by you during the process (moving roles). I’m sure this made a significant difference to me feeling “at one with myself again”. HC, Probation.
v I felt very comfortable opening up from our first session. She is
extremely intuitive where people are concerned and her care for me as a
client was also immediately evident - MN Hypnotherapist
and one of my favourites which combines my belief in mind and body connections:
v I seem to have found our discussion to be a bit like a mental massage. I found my mind was emptied of the things that had being going around it and I slept like a log.
